El primero, soltar amarras. El segundo, volver al muelle. Todo lo que ocurre en el medio (el mar abierto, la singladura, las horas en calma) se desdibuja con el tiempo. Los dos extremos quedan n\u00edtidos. Ah\u00ed se mide el d\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal delay-1\">El docking es el minuto m\u00e1s caro al que se enfrenta un yate owner. Sucede en espacios reducidos, con viento de costado empujando la proa, corriente que desplaza el casco lateralmente, y un slip cuya geometr\u00eda rara vez perdona el error. Los aseguradores conocen la cifra: la mayor parte de los siniestros de casco en n\u00e1utica recreativa ocurre por debajo de los tres nudos, a menos de veinte metros de una estructura fija. Las cuentas son dif\u00edciles de discutir. Casi todo lo que se le rompe a un yate, se le rompe cuando est\u00e1 tratando de detenerse.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal delay-2\">Durante los \u00faltimos quince a\u00f1os, la respuesta de la industria a ese problema ha sido el joystick. Una sola palanca en el helm que concentra motores, transmisiones y thrusters en un \u00fanico input intuitivo. Lo mueves hacia adelante y el yate avanza. Lo giras y el casco rota sobre su eje. Es equipamiento est\u00e1ndar hoy en pr\u00e1cticamente todo motor yate por encima de los cuarenta pies, y sigue siendo una pieza notable de integraci\u00f3n. Pero el joystick es un traductor, no una calculadora. Ejecuta, instante por instante, lo que la mano del capit\u00e1n le pide. El trabajo mental de <em>leer<\/em> el viento y la corriente, decidir cu\u00e1nta correcci\u00f3n hace falta y ajustar sobre la marcha, sigue siendo enteramente del que est\u00e1 al tim\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal delay-3\">Lo que ha cambiado en los \u00faltimos cinco a\u00f1os es la aparici\u00f3n de sistemas que empiezan a hacer ese trabajo mental por s\u00ed solos. Leen el viento y la corriente con sensores, saben exactamente d\u00f3nde est\u00e1 el casco con precisi\u00f3n GPS al cent\u00edmetro, y compensan ambos factores varias veces por segundo, mientras el capit\u00e1n sostiene el joystick y mira c\u00f3mo se acerca el muelle. Esa categor\u00eda, la de los sistemas que <em>calculan<\/em> la maniobra en lugar de simplemente ejecutarla, es lo que la industria ha pasado a llamar <strong>docking asistido<\/strong>. Y es lo m\u00e1s importante que le ha pasado a la maniobra en espacios reducidos desde la llegada del joystick.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n  <!-- asistido<\/h2>\n      <\/div>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">Lo primero que conviene precisar es qu\u00e9 cubre el t\u00e9rmino, porque el marketing alrededor lo ha vuelto confuso. Un joystick no es docking asistido. Tampoco lo es una funci\u00f3n de station-keeping que sostiene el yate sobre un punto GPS mientras los motores hacen su trabajo. Tampoco una vista cenital de 360 grados que le da al capit\u00e1n una perspectiva a\u00e9rea del slip. Las tres son herramientas excelentes. Son, individualmente, los cimientos sobre los que se construye el docking asistido. Pero no son, por s\u00ed solas, lo que la categor\u00eda describe.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">El <strong>Joystick Piloting de Mercury Marine<\/strong>, con su funci\u00f3n Skyhook de station-keeping, es el ejemplo m\u00e1s limpio de la capa fundacional. El joystick concentra motores y thrusters en un solo control intuitivo. Skyhook, con un bot\u00f3n, mantiene la posici\u00f3n y el rumbo del yate contra viento y corriente. Ambos son notables, y hoy son equipamiento est\u00e1ndar en casi todo motor yate bimotor. Ninguno de los dos calcula la maniobra de aproximaci\u00f3n. Eso sigue siendo trabajo del capit\u00e1n, manualmente, cada segundo de la maniobra.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">El <strong>Surround View de Garmin<\/strong> pertenece al mismo nivel fundacional, pero por el lado de la percepci\u00f3n. Seis c\u00e1maras 1080p integradas al casco arman una vista cenital de 360 grados, en vivo, del yate y todo lo que lo rodea, sobre la pantalla multifunci\u00f3n del helm. El sistema es una pieza magn\u00edfica de conciencia situacional, el equivalente al asistente de estacionamiento a\u00e9reo de un auto moderno, escalado para un motor yate de ochenta pies. Pero las c\u00e1maras informan. No act\u00faan. No corrigen ning\u00fan input del motor, no computan ninguna maniobra.<\/p>\n\n      <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">El docking asistido, definido con rigor, es lo que sucede cuando esas capas fundacionales se conectan a un cerebro de software que <em>calcula<\/em>. Ese cerebro lee los sensores continuamente, decide qu\u00e9 correcci\u00f3n necesita el casco, y manda comandos al sistema de propulsi\u00f3n para ejecutarla, varias veces por segundo, mientras el capit\u00e1n sostiene el joystick. Hoy hay cuatro sistemas serios en el mercado que cumplen con esa definici\u00f3n. }\n}\n<\/style>\n\n<article class=\"docking-es-article\">\n\n  <!-- \u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550 SECTION: VOLVO PENTA \u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550\u2550 -->\n  <div class=\"art-container\">\n    <span class=\"art-kicker reveal\">Primer sistema \u00b7 Volvo Penta<\/span>\n    <h2 class=\"art-section-head reveal\">Docking asistido, <em>como lo defini\u00f3 Volvo Penta<\/em><\/h2>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">En enero de 2021, en el marco del Consumer Electronics Show, Volvo Penta anunci\u00f3 lo que describi\u00f3 como el primer sistema de docking asistido totalmente integrado de la industria. La afirmaci\u00f3n era t\u00e9cnica, no promocional. Productos anteriores ya ofrec\u00edan station-keeping, mapeo por joystick, o percepci\u00f3n basada en c\u00e1maras. Ninguno hab\u00eda juntado esas capas en un solo lazo cerrado donde el software calcula y corrige activamente la maniobra mientras el capit\u00e1n sostiene el joystick.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">El sistema se construye sobre tres componentes que Volvo Penta ya fabricaba. El primero es el pod IPS, la arquitectura de propulsi\u00f3n orientada hacia adelante que la compa\u00f1\u00eda introdujo en 2005 y que sigue definiendo su cat\u00e1logo de motor yates. Cada pod rota de forma independiente y puede orientarse en un arco amplio, lo que le permite al casco trasladarse lateralmente, girar sobre su eje o sostenerse en un punto fijo, sin intervenci\u00f3n de tim\u00f3n alguno. El segundo es el Dynamic Positioning System, un m\u00f3dulo GPS de station-keeping que ya formaba parte del paquete electr\u00f3nico de Volvo Penta. Para Assisted Docking, la antena se refin\u00f3, se le agregaron receptores y se mejor\u00f3 la precisi\u00f3n posicional. El tercero es el joystick, que viene en el mercado desde 2006.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">Lo que el software hace es montarse sobre los tres. Cuando el capit\u00e1n empuja el joystick hacia adelante para indicar direcci\u00f3n y velocidad, el sistema lee la posici\u00f3n y el rumbo reales del yate varias veces por segundo, los compara con el vector que el capit\u00e1n pidi\u00f3, y ajusta el \u00e1ngulo y el empuje de cada pod en tiempo real para mantener el casco sobre ese vector. Si el viento intenta empujar la proa fuera de l\u00ednea, los pods compensan. Si la corriente desplaza el casco lateralmente, los pods compensan. El capit\u00e1n sigue sosteniendo el joystick, pero el c\u00e1lculo de <em>cu\u00e1nta<\/em> correcci\u00f3n hace falta en cada instante ha pasado al software. <strong>Si el capit\u00e1n suelta el joystick, el sistema asume que quiere detenerse. Y sostiene la posici\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n    <div class=\"fact-box reveal\">\n      <div class=\"fact-box-label\">Qu\u00e9 hace el sistema, en concreto<\/div>\n      <div class=\"fact-box-body\">Volvo Penta enumera seis funciones centrales: <strong>movimiento en l\u00ednea recta sin compensaci\u00f3n manual<\/strong>, station-keeping a velocidad cero, maniobras lentas con compensaci\u00f3n refinada, rotaci\u00f3n alrededor de un punto fijo, micro-reposicionamiento y alineaci\u00f3n, y <strong>Side Push<\/strong>, que mantiene el casco apretado contra el muelle mientras la tripulaci\u00f3n asegura las amarras. Est\u00e1 disponible como opci\u00f3n de f\u00e1brica o como retrofit en motor yates equipados con Volvo Penta IPS, entre los <strong>35 y 120 pies<\/strong>. El retrofit requiere actualizaci\u00f3n de software y una nueva antena.<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">La funci\u00f3n Side Push merece nota aparte, porque resuelve el momento que la mayor\u00eda de los capitanes describe como el m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil de toda maniobra de amarre. Una vez que el casco est\u00e1 posicionado en paralelo al muelle, el capit\u00e1n empuja el joystick lateralmente hacia el muelle y activa Side Push en la pantalla. El sistema sostiene el yate ah\u00ed, apretado contra el muelle, indefinidamente, mientras la tripulaci\u00f3n se encarga de los cabos y las defensas. Los pods micro-corrigen contra viento y corriente en segundo plano. bumper<\/em><\/h2>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">Raymarine lleg\u00f3 al mismo destino por otro camino. Mientras Volvo Penta construy\u00f3 hacia afuera desde su paquete de propulsi\u00f3n, Raymarine construy\u00f3 hacia adentro desde su paquete de percepci\u00f3n. El sistema, llamado DockSense, se present\u00f3 en 2019 y es el m\u00e1s antiguo de los cuatro que cubre este reportaje. Existe en dos versiones, que conviene separar.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">La primera, <strong>DockSense Alert<\/strong>, es esencialmente sensado avanzado sin intervenci\u00f3n. Entre tres y cinco c\u00e1maras estereosc\u00f3picas FLIR se distribuyen alrededor del casco, conectadas a un procesador central y a una pantalla multifunci\u00f3n Raymarine Axiom. Las c\u00e1maras leen el entorno en tres dimensiones. Cuando el sistema detecta que algo s\u00f3lido (un piling, un muelle, un casco vecino) se est\u00e1 acercando al yate a una velocidad que podr\u00eda producir contacto, emite una alarma audible y visual al capit\u00e1n. Tres niveles de alerta escalonados: amarillo intermitente, rojo intermitente, advertencia plena. De ah\u00ed en adelante, la responsabilidad es enteramente del capit\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">La segunda, <strong>DockSense Control<\/strong>, es donde el sistema se convierte en docking asistido en sentido estricto. Su producto para n\u00e1utica de recreo, NeuBoat Dock, se lanz\u00f3 en el Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 en sociedad con Raymarine. Una segunda generaci\u00f3n, <strong>NeuBoat Dock II<\/strong>, se present\u00f3 en el Miami International Boat Show 2025, donde se llev\u00f3 el <em>NMMA Innovation Award<\/em> de tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">El sistema est\u00e1 construido por el lado de la percepci\u00f3n. Seis c\u00e1maras distribuidas alrededor del casco alimentan un procesador con IA que sintetiza una vista 3D de 360 grados del yate y su entorno, sobre la pantalla multifunci\u00f3n. International Boatbuilders' Exhibition de Tampa. El anuncio merece leerse con cuidado, porque reclama una categor\u00eda que ninguno de los tres sistemas anteriores reclama. Donde Volvo Penta, Raymarine y Avikus describen sus productos como <em>asistencia<\/em>, h\u00edbridos entre docking autom\u00e1tico y manual, con el capit\u00e1n como autoridad operativa, AutoCaptain se presenta, en las palabras de Brunswick, como autonom\u00eda plena. El capit\u00e1n selecciona un punto en la pantalla multifunci\u00f3n. El yate va.<\/p>\n\n    <p class=\"art-body-text reveal\">Tres afirmaciones distinguen a AutoCaptain. Primera, el sistema est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para una maniobra aut\u00f3noma real, que incluye desamarre, amarre y tr\u00e1nsito de corta distancia entre puntos.
