The space race continues. The Wallywhy 150 is another example of Wally being ahead of its time and setting new standards in yacht design.
The Wallywhy 150 has been developed with the same concept as the Wallywhy 200, and in fact, both models were conceived at the same time four years ago.
The Wallywhy 150 offers the same features as its bigger brother but in a smaller package, with design decisions that have created a unique and highly livable 24-meter motor yacht with unmatched interior and exterior spaces and an outstanding layout.
There are certain key attributes that define the Wallywhy 200 and were fundamental to the design of the new Wallywhy 150. A clear example is the main cabin at the high bow at the level of the main deck, which provides an impressive 270-degree panoramic view. Another example is the nod to the concept of single-level living with an extraordinary two-level salon-dining room that leads directly to the stern “beach.”
On the upper part is an outdoor lounge extending almost the entire length of the yacht, part solarium, part relaxation room, and part party space, with the distinctive angular hardtop providing shade and protection from the weather.
At first glance, the effect is not only immediate in terms of striking aesthetics, unmistakably Wally, but also the brilliance of the spaces and what they offer. This is the traditional idea of what a yacht should be: bold, brilliant, and completely practical for great days on the water with family and friends.
The forward main cabin carries everything offered by the Wallywhy 200 and incorporates it into this new model with just a hint of compromise: the comfortable double bed still has space to walk around. Still, it benefits from that glorious panoramic view, a true aquatic amphitheater to watch the ever-changing play of sea and sky.
Below are options for a double VIP cabin and another double for guests or two VIP cabins. Whichever layout is chosen, the expanse of glass that wraps around the hull and superstructure maintains wide views and abundant natural light.
Back on the main deck, the interior is divided between a two-level salon area, lower and upper, with low-rise steps connecting both. The standard layout would be the sofa on the upper level and the dining space on the lower, but this is not set in stone. In fact, flexibility is key at Wally, and this space is presented almost as a blank canvas to be configured originally and creatively, just like the customization applied to materials and finishes. The shipyard’s philosophy has a motto: let people’s imagination fly.
For a yacht that surprises and innovates in every detail, it’s hard to find highlights, but the aft deck on the main deck is a clear contender. “That terrace over the sea is as rooted in Wally’s DNA as carbon fiber,” says Luca Bassani, Founder and Chief Designer of Wally. The continued feeling of connection to the sea is possible thanks to an uninterrupted view and continuous flow between the interior and exterior, something that in this Wallywhy 150 expands to offer a truly exceptional experience in the guest area.
In terms of engineering, Wally has been able to leverage not only its experience in developing ultra-light and geometrically complex sailing and motor yachts but also the extensive experience of the Ferretti Group’s Engineering team. The result is groundbreaking, with the hull carrying huge expanses of glass that not only provide the elevated forward master suite with the Wallywhy’s characteristic bow wraparound windows but also create two-story high, single-piece windows in the two-level salon.
In the words of Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally, “the structure has to be very well thought out because it is basically a glass cage, but also the pipes and cables, the air conditioning ducts, and other technical elements that must be incorporated.”
The reality is that a huge amount of planning and engineering design is involved. The Wallywhy 150 uses glass of a thickness generally found in yachts of 50 or 60 meters, which, while giving the structure exceptional strength, implies an exceptional engineering effort and is not usually seen in a boat of less than 24 meters.
The Wallywhy 150 is not typical in any aspect. The aft cabin flows from the lower part of the salon, creating a vast covered outdoor terrace that flows uninterruptedly from the top forward to the sea at the back. The hydraulic stern platform can be lowered both to launch a boat and to be a submerged beach and swimming platform, and the design allows not only a variety of water toys but also a 3.9-meter tender.
The Wallywhy 150 also offers a configuration for extended cruises, with a range of about 400 miles at cruising speed. Powered by optional triple Volvo Penta IPS1350s, the 150 can reach a top speed of 23 knots, while with Volvo Penta’s standard IPS 1200s, it reaches 21 knots. In addition, it is a boat with exceptional sea behavior. It is incredibly stable, mainly due to the hull design and its construction, which uses carbon fiber in the upper part to reduce weight at the height. Of course, it is also offered with a stabilization system to ensure comfort both underway and at rest.
The combination of cutting-edge appearance, amazing spaces, and admirable performance explains why a concept like the Wallywhy, which avoids the conventional in the nautical industry, already has a growing base of admirers.
“The breadth of the Wallywhy range has proven to be surprising because Wally has never been for everyone; we do not fear pushing the boundaries of design function and always take ideas to the extreme,” elaborates Luca Bassani.”
The Wallywhy 150 is revolutionary and deserves to be seen, felt, and experienced in person; judging it without being on board is very difficult. The spaces and volumes are incredible. The salon, for example, is over 2.5 meters high, which is unbelievable on a 24-meter boat. In addition, that roof is curved from bow to stern and transversely, creating a dome effect; it’s simply amazing.
The yacht of the future is already here.
