Heesen has laid the keel of Project Kansei, a 56-metre steel superyacht whose name carries its entire brief. Kansei is a Japanese idea: anticipating emotional needs, and designing for the way a space makes a person feel.

That idea sits at the center of the project. It answers to Heesen's three stated pillars, Human, Health and Happiness, and frames the yacht as a private world shaped around the owner's rhythm, engineered so that time on board leaves its guests renewed rather than merely entertained.

A yacht organized around wellbeing

The interior, by Luca Dini Design and Architecture, is where the idea becomes architecture. The main deck aft gives over to a gym and an open yoga floor that flows into a terrace with a juice bar. A deck below, a unified wellness area brings together a sauna, a hammam and an emotional shower parcours that moves through snow, mist and water, under generous skylights. The materials follow the same logic, backlit rice paper and raffia ceilings, spaces at once open and protected. Exterior lines are by Omega Architects.

A coin from 1978

The keel was laid at Talsma, Heesen's steel-hull partner in the northern Netherlands, with a Lloyd's Register surveyor present. CEO Jeroen van der Meer set a 1978 coin, the shipyard's founding year, into the keel.

The gesture reaches in both directions. Launch is scheduled for October 2028, to coincide with Heesen's 50th anniversary, with delivery in the first quarter of 2029. Kansei is built on the proven steel platform of the yard's 55-metre series, refined with feedback from the owners and crews who run them.

Carpentry will be executed by Heesen Interiors, the yard's own joinery factory in Winterswijk. Social spaces are handled with the same intent, from a formal dining room with an indoor bar on the bridge deck to a sundeck with a live cooking station. The thread that holds them together is the one in the name: a yacht meant to be felt before it is measured.
