Riva Grows the Argo Into a 96, and Reworks the Deck Below

The first 96' Argo Super was launched today in La Spezia. The added length is the headline; a day head moved to the main deck and a full beam VIP that reads as a second master are the actual news.

Riva has launched the first 96' Argo Super at its La Spezia yard, an evolution of the 90' Argo that now heads toward its official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.

For a shipyard, the interesting part is not the extra metre or so. It is what Riva chose to do with it. Rather than simply enlarge a proven flybridge, the yard reorganized it: a new day head on the main deck sets off a chain of layout changes that ends, one deck down, in more usable sleeping space.

An evolution, not a new platform

The 90' Argo has been one of the best selling models in Riva's flybridge range, which makes the Super a low risk move: same recognizable hull language, refreshed and extended, rather than a clean sheet design.

The livery signals the intent. A pairing of Aluminium with Bright Black details keeps the contours reading sportier and more contemporary than the outgoing boat, without departing from the family look a repeat Riva owner expects.

The water is the point

The aft and beach areas carry most of the visible redesign. A sunpad with handrail and cup holders is now built into the garage door, which opens to the Williams 435 tender and a jet ski. The swim platform gains a lift, and the cockpit adds storage, a refrigerator and adjustable backrests. For the way these boats are actually used at anchor, that is where an owner spends the day.

The second master play

Moving the day head up frees the lower deck. In standard form it now holds three guest cabins, including a full beam VIP aft that Riva positions as comparable to a second master suite; an optional layout offers three VIP cabins plus a twin. On the main deck, the full beam master keeps its expansive glazing, and the salon can be specified with the dining aft and lounge forward, as on this first hull.

"The courage to reinvent it, generation after generation, does."

Propulsion and systems

The first unit runs a pair of MTU 12V 2000 M96X engines at 2,000 hp each. The equipment list leans toward comfort and control at rest and at low speed: Seakeeper NG18 and NG10 stabilisers, the Watchit collision prevention system, Xenta's X-AID manoeuvring aid with virtual anchor, and a stern thruster. Read together, the package is aimed less at outright speed than at making a 29 metre flybridge easy to handle shorthanded.
