M/Y Lumina head on, at the moment of her launch.
Benetti Launches Lumina and Puts €100 Million Behind Tuscany
The slipway ceremony is the photograph. The investment plan is the news: Azimut|Benetti doubled its production value in five years and is reinvesting into the district that produces 70 percent of it.
Azimut|Benetti launched M/Y Lumina in Viareggio, the latest unit of the Benetti Class 44M family, and used the occasion to announce an additional €100 million investment plan in Tuscany for the 2026 to 2028 period.
The yacht is a 44 meter, four deck superyacht designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers, delivered by way of the slipway launch, the traditional ceremony still practiced in Viareggio. Delivery is scheduled for summer 2026. For readers of this section, though, the boat is the occasion, not the story.

The numbers behind the ceremony
Over the past five years, the Group's production value has doubled: from €758 million in 2020 to €1.56 billion in 2025. That is the figure that gives the launch its weight, and the context in which the new investment should be read.
Tuscany is the operational core of the superyacht division. Fourteen industrial sites across Viareggio, Livorno, Massa and Pisa generate 70 percent of the Group's global results. The €100 million follows €77 million already invested in the region over the past three years.
What the money buys, according to the Group: larger sheds and new travel lifts, upgraded production and safety systems, energy efficiency work and photovoltaic installations, refurbished offices and client reception areas, continued product development, and an expansion of Lusben refit operations.
That last item deserves attention. Reinforcing refit capacity while the new build order book is full is a hedge, and a sensible one: refit revenue is counter cyclical, and the fleet built during the boom of the past five years is about to start needing it.
The workforce, which is the real constraint
Between 2020 and 2026, the Group's workforce in Tuscany nearly doubled. Direct employees grew from 442 to 607, but the larger expansion happened in the supply chain: the Tuscan sites now register 3,800 daily presences, across a network of more than 1,000 companies.
This is where the industry's actual bottleneck sits, and the Group knows it. Through the ISYL Foundation (Italian Super Yacht Life), of which it is a founding member, Benetti feeds directly into training programs; more than 600 graduates have entered the profession since 2015. Sheds and travel lifts can be bought in eighteen months. A trained joiner cannot.
