Monaco Gathers Its Designers on One Platform, and Moves Them Toward the Docks

The Monaco Yacht Show has announced the Designer Gallery, a single platform for yacht design that consolidates the former Yacht Design and Innovation Hub into one continuous exhibition space. Fourteen studios are named for the 2026 edition, which runs September 23 to 26 at Port Hercule.

Read as a floor plan rather than as an announcement, the change is straightforward. Two divided exhibition zones become one. Visitors no longer choose between areas, and studios no longer compete for footfall against a second address on the same show. On a site as compressed as Port Hercule, that is not a cosmetic decision. Square meters near the water are the show's scarcest asset, and the way they are allocated tells exhibitors where the organizer believes value now sits.

The stated intent is direct contact. The Gallery is presented as a place where visitors can move through current concepts and talk to the people who drew them, without the interruption a split layout imposes.

Proximity is the actual announcement

Toby Moore, CEO of Informa Prestige, describes a wide unified platform partly set on the rocks of the port, designers brought closer to the superyacht and tender docks in the Dockside area, and exhibition structures upgraded in quality.

The commercial consequence is the part worth marking. Almost nobody commissions a 60 meter exterior at a stand. What happens at a stand is recognition: an owner between two viewings, a broker walking a client from a tender to an appointment, a shipyard commercial director confirming a name he already had in mind. Moving the studios into that path changes the quality of the traffic, not only its volume.

Adjacent to the Gallery, the MYS Immersive Experience by VBH offers an interactive 3D environment built with participating designers and shipyards, in which visitors step onboard virtual projects. Alongside it, SENSE by VBH is presented as a 360 immersive experience where atmosphere, sound, light and scent are handled as design material.

For a studio, that is the more useful facility. Most of a design portfolio at this level is unbuilt, under construction or covered by confidentiality. A show floor that can display a project before it exists solves a presentation problem the industry has been managing with renderings and half explanations for years.

Who is on the list

The named lineup is deliberately mixed. Naval architecture is represented by Lateral Naval Architects, Van Oossanen Naval Architects and Hoek Design Naval Architects. Exterior and interior styling arrives through Pininfarina, Cor D. Rover Design, Espen Oeino International, Dixon Yacht Design, Argo Navis, Barracuda Yacht Design, Hydro Tec and Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design. Frers Design, Philippe Briand Ltd and VPLP Design bring sail and multihull competence into a room that motor yachting tends to dominate.

The spread matters more than any single name. A gallery weighted toward stylists would read as a showcase. This one puts hull form and hydrodynamics in the same aisle as exterior lines, which is closer to how a project actually gets built, and closer to the conversation an owner needs to have before signing.

What the release does not say

The communication is clear about intent and quiet about scale. There is no stand count, no surface area for the Gallery, no plan showing where it begins and ends, and no indication of whether the fourteen studios are the final roster or a first wave. Nothing is said about participation cost, or about how much of the port's footprint has been reassigned to make room.

Those are the numbers an exhibitor comparing this edition against the last would ask for first, and their absence in mid August is ordinary rather than evasive: the layout of a port that rebuilds itself every September is usually settled late. The verifiable test is on site, when the first visitors walk the platform on September 23.
