Heesen Puts Project Management and After Sales Under One Director

Eric Boers arrives from wind energy to run a newly created role. The structure is the news: the yard is treating the build and the yacht's operating life as one continuous file.

Heesen Yachts has appointed Eric Boers as Director Technical Services and After Sales. The role is new, and it merges two functions most shipyards keep apart: the Project Management teams that build the yacht and the After Sales organization that supports it once it is sailing.

That merger is the story. In most yards, the technical knowledge accumulated during construction stops at delivery, and the fleet's operational experience never travels back to the drawing office. Heesen is closing that loop deliberately and putting one director accountable for both ends of it.

"we are bridging the gap between construction and delivery"

Jeroen van der Meer · CEO, Heesen

Who Boers is

He arrives with more than twenty years in high tech engineering and industrial services, and notably from outside yachting.

12 years
Vestas Senior leadership roles including Service Director and Managing Director positions at the wind turbine manufacturer.
5 years
Alfen Led after sales at the smart energy company.

The profile is consistent: international service operations and complex, high value assets that have to keep running for decades. A superyacht and a wind turbine have little in common on the water, and quite a lot in common on the maintenance schedule.

"Technology and engineering are only as valuable as the support behind them"

What changes first

Boers' stated priorities are the handover between the yard and the fleet, and the revival of Heesen's Captains' Events, the shipyard's direct channel to the professionals who actually operate its yachts. That second point is worth flagging for anyone in this business: captains are the most reliable and least consulted source of build feedback in the industry.

For clients, the yard frames the outcome in operational terms: shorter communication lines, faster response times, and a single point of accountability from the start of construction through decades of ownership. In a market where residual value increasingly depends on maintenance history, that is a commercial argument as much as a service one.
