Azimut · Seadeck 7 · Genoa Boat Show 2026

The Azimut Seadeck 7 Carries the World's First Volvo Penta IPS Hybrid Installation at the Genoa Boat Show 2026

Four operating modes, fully electric cruising up to 11 knots and a Hotel Mode that runs the whole boat on batteries for up to 12 hours. The word to notice in the announcement is industrialized.

Azimut is exhibiting the Seadeck 7 fitted with the Volvo Penta IPS Hybrid system at the Genoa International Boat Show, from October 1 to 6 at berth F. It is the world's first installation of the new industrialized, ready-to-scale version of the system, and the Seadeck 7 is the only yacht at the show carrying this propulsion solution.

Two words in that sentence carry most of the weight: industrialized and ready-to-scale. A hybrid system that reaches a boat show as a production item rather than as a demonstrator is at a different stage of its life, because it has already passed through the part that decides whether a technology spreads, which is manufacturing. Azimut and Volvo Penta present this first installation as the result of a shared vision for a more conscious boating experience, built around hybrid propulsion and silent mooring.

Four modes for four different days on the water

The system covers the range of situations a yacht of this size actually meets. Pure Electric gives fully electric navigation up to 11 knots, which is the speed band of leaving a marina, moving between anchorages and arriving at a beach without engine noise. Hybrid Electric switches automatically from electric to diesel according to speed and power demand, so the transition is a decision the system makes rather than one the captain has to anticipate.

Hybrid Fuel is there to deliver greater acceleration, and Crossover is the mode for combined operation of both sources. Four modes sound like four settings to learn, but the practical effect is the opposite: the yacht adapts to the day rather than asking its owner to plan around the drivetrain.

Hotel Mode, and the number that defines it

The figure that turns the system into an experience rather than a specification is 12 hours. In Hotel Mode the batteries power all onboard services for up to twelve hours in complete silence and with zero CO₂ emissions, which removes the need to run a traditional generator. An evening at anchor, dinner, a night aboard and breakfast all fit inside that window.

This is the capability the market has been moving toward across the 20 to 30 meter range, and quantifying it in hours is what makes it usable information for an owner. Silent mooring is the other half of the same proposition, and together they describe a yacht designed around the hours it spends stopped as much as the hours it spends running.

The Seadeck 7 is part of the Seadeck Series, one of the seven ranges in the Azimut collection, and sits within the twelve models the brand has in the water at Genoa. For the industry, the detail worth filing is the one in the first paragraph: the version of IPS Hybrid now on the water at berth F is the one built to be produced in series.
