Sirena Yachts Launches the 118, a 36 Meter Flagship, at Cannes Yachting Festival

The composite builder's largest yacht yet keeps the family profile of the rest of the range while crossing into genuine superyacht territory, at 279 gross tons. Hull number one, IKIGAI, shows how far that platform can be pushed by an owner willing to go bespoke.

Sirena Yachts has unveiled the Sirena 118, its new 36 meter flagship, at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Naval architecture comes from German Frers, exterior design from Sirena's in house team, and the interior of hull number one, IKIGAI, from Cor D. Rover. At 279 gross tons, it is the largest yacht the Turkish builder has delivered.

The Sirena 118 is recognizably a Sirena. The same purposeful axe bow, the same rectangular hull windows and aft leaning fashion plates that define the smaller boats in the range carry over here, scaled up. What has changed is the category. At 36 meters and 279 gross tons, built in glass fiber with carbon fiber in the upper decks and finished with resin infusion construction, the 118 moves the brand from large yacht into full superyacht territory, without abandoning the design language that sells the smaller hulls.

Power comes from twin 1,550 horsepower MAN diesels as standard, giving a cruising speed of 10 knots and a top speed of 16 knots. Owners who want more can specify twin 1,990 horsepower MAN V12 engines instead, which raise the top speed to 18 knots. The composite hull, combined with propeller tunnels eliminated by reshaping the afterbody to reduce turbulence, is the platform's real technical case: a lighter, lower maintenance alternative to steel or aluminum at this size.

A full deck for the owner

The main deck forward is given over entirely to the owner's suite, with direct access to its own foredeck terrace. An optional Owner Split configuration adds a spiral staircase down to a private office and lounge on the deck below, closed off with a fold down sea balcony of its own. Five further guest cabins bring the total to six, enough for up to 12 people in the owner's party, with room for up to five crew across three cabins.

The public rooms follow the same logic of connected, differentiated space. An aft deck lounge opens through double doors into a full height salon, an upper deck lounge looks out onto a more private aft terrace, and a sundeck above is left open for each owner to fit out. None of it is designed as a single open air deck. It is a sequence of spaces built for different groups, different levels of privacy and different times of day.

Striking exterior, engineered underneath

Sirena continues its collaboration with German Frers on naval architecture while its own in house team shapes the exterior, the same split that runs across the rest of the range. The hull geometry was developed using CFD analysis, and the team eliminated the need for propeller tunnels by reshaping the afterbody to cut turbulence, a detail more associated with performance craft than an owner focused flagship of this size.

Hull one, built around one owner

Hull number one, IKIGAI, belongs to an owner who went further than the standard specification allows. Cor D. Rover's interior draws on the vessels and instruments of early exploration, worked into materials that read as domestic rather than literal: a salon ceiling of pressed leaves set in layered milk glass, decorative surfaces in peacock feather, seashells set into countertops, and a two story vintage mirror wrapped around the spiral staircase connecting the owner's suite to the private lounge below. The palette, moss green, burgundy and mustard, is a deliberately bolder choice than the neutral tones common on yachts this size.

IKIGAI is a demonstration piece as much as a delivery. A composite superyacht platform that photographs like the smaller Sirenas but customizes like a full custom build is the argument Sirena Marine is making with its flagship, and the owner of hull one gave the brand the clearest possible proof of it. What the next hulls on the 118 platform look like will show whether that degree of personalization holds at volume, or whether IKIGAI turns out to be the exception the brand points to rather than the rule it follows.
