Azimut Grande 44M Wins the Innovation Route Awards' Special Jury Prize at Cannes, for the Fuel It Doesn't Burn
The 44 meter flagship made its debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival and left with the Special Jury Award, the honor the show reserves for what it considers genuinely new in large yacht design. What moved the jury was efficiency, not scale.
Grande 44M, Azimut's new flagship, made its debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival by winning the Special Jury Award at the Innovation Route Awards, the recognition the French boat show gives to the most significant and visionary solutions in international yachting. The jury's stated reason was efficiency, concentrated inside a single hull, not length.
Flagship debuts are usually judged on spectacle: more volume, more deck, more speed. The Innovation Route Awards jury took a different measure. It credited Grande 44M with gathering several efficiency oriented systems into one yacht and singled out the reduction in fuel consumption for a vessel of this size, calling the result an approach the large yacht segment has not seen before.
Four decks, one carbon hull
The award recognizes engineering, but the case for Grande 44M starts with structure. The yacht's four deck architecture is made possible by extensive use of carbon fiber, which lightens the superstructure and frees volumes that a heavier build could not carry, including an entire Upper Deck reserved for the owner.
What the volume buys
At the stern, the Mezzanine Deck and its Sea View Terrace extend that logic toward the water, and the new See Through Pool turns the beach club into a space built around the sea rather than beside it.
None of this is unusual language for a flagship launch. What is unusual is that the same carbon savings that unlock those volumes are also part of the fuel case the jury cited, structure and efficiency working from the same decision rather than competing for it.
The systems behind the 30 percent
On the technical side, the reduction in fuel and emissions is not attributed to one feature but to several working together. A carbon Hull Vane® foil reduces drag and pitch. A Dual Mode hull optimizes efficiency and comfort across the full speed range. Roughly 30 square meters of solar panels support the hotel load, and a Mild Hybrid system, with a battery room of up to 230 kWh, allows extended zero emission, silent anchoring.
"a new approach in the large-yacht segment"
Innovation Route Awards Jury · Cannes Yachting FestivalA flagship built as a manifesto
Azimut frames the combined result, a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 30 percent compared with yachts of similar size, as the clearest statement yet of its Low Emission Yacht fleet. Read against the award, the more useful fact is not the percentage itself but where it was won. A jury built to reward visionary solutions chose a flagship for what it declines to burn, a different kind of record than length, and one competitors in the same size bracket will now have to answer.
